Honeymooners can have breakfast delivered to their overwater thatched-roof bungalow via an outrigger canoe in the morning. The resort spa offers an impressive selection of treatments with views of the water and palm trees. Over water bungalows feature a Floating Love Seat which is anchored to the hut on stilts to give you a chance to float and relax surrounded by water. From sunset cruises to helicopter tours, honeymooners will have plenty to see and do on vacation. Rates at the resort start at $1,400 USD per night.

Le Meridien Bora Bora is a romantic getaway located on Motu Tape facing the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Enjoy a selection of water sports, swimming with marine animals like turtles and long lazy days by the water. The resort’s private lagoon is home to the Marine Turtle’s Protection Center. The project started when a guest of the hotel brought in an injured turtle. Today, the turtle is part of the center for scientific study. Guests develop an awareness of the plight of these endangered species as they free dive with the turtles.

The hotel offers three types of accommodations: beach bungalows, overwater bungalows, and premium overwater bungalows which are ideal for a romantic honeymoon. The main difference between these three accommodations is their size and proximity to the water. All of the bungalows are air-conditioned. The beach bungalows are available with either a queen-size bed or two single beds, have direct dial phone, safe, satellite-television, CD, DVD and MP3 reader, minibar and a coffee-maker. Beach bungalows can incorporate a convertible sofa that can accommodate a third adult or a child.

Overwater bungalows have a large section of glass in the floor so that you can watch fish from your bed. However, you are better off just slipping off the ladder on your private deck and swimming with them instead. The premium bungalows are located right at the end of the deck, provide more privacy and have the best views of the lagoon. Premium bungalows are the best rooms for a romantic island honeymoon vacation or a romantic getaway.

The resort has two restaurants and a bar. Le Tipanie offers great views of the interior lagoon; dinner is a la carte and several different buffet themes are offered. Le Te Ava is right next to the swimming pool and serves lunch in a casual atmosphere. There is also a special dinner menu available. Enjoy a drink and the sunset at the Miki Miki Bar. Take a picninc on a Motu (small island), sign up for a 4X4 Safari in the mountains, or take a helicopter tour of Bora Bora. You can also take the shuttle to the sister property Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa and spend an afternoon getting pampered at the spa.

There are just 62 individually decorated bungalow suites, 50 over the water and 12 on the beach. The resort has two restaurants, the Noa Noa and the casual Vini Vini located near the pool. Noa Noa offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and often offers themed dinners and lively entertainment. On your romantic getaway, you can also dine on your private bungalow terrace right over the lagoon, watching colorful fish swim by. Rates start at 51,000 XPF (+689-60-4900, website).

The fact that there is a great selection of spectacular dive spots within a short boat ride from the resort (five to 15 minutes), is a great plus. You’ll be able to spend more time diving and less time getting there. The resort can help you plan a variety of island excursions, such as helicopter rides, fishing, catamaran cruises, submarine excursions and horseback riding, just to name a few.

The resort has 80 Polynesian-style bungalows which are located on the beach, near the pool and over the water. The Premium Overwater Bungalows, with large sundecks and sitting areas, offer the best views and the most privacy and are ideal for a romantic honeymoon vacation. Despite its incredible location, at this tropical resort you don’t have to give up modern conveniences such as satellite television and air conditioning which are provided in each guest bungalow. Dine with a view of the lagoon at the Tevairoa Restaurant which serves international cuisine. The Miki Miki Restaurant and Bar serves lunch in a poolside setting.

The resort is located on the island Motu Tevairoa, 10 minutes by private boat from the airport. Airport transfers cost $25 one way. Rates for a Garden Pool Suite start at US $510, depending on the exchange rate at the time of booking; from US $780 for Premium Overwater Bungalows. The Maitai Polynesia is a moredately-priced resort located across from the islet of Motu Piti Aau on the main island of Bora Bora. The hotel offers Tahiti-style accommodations, including 19 overwater bungalows. Guests can enjoy a variety of vacation activities, ranging from scuba diving to helicopter tours. The hotel activities desk can help you find and arrange the best activities for you. The Maitai Polynesia offers a range of guest rooms, from moderately-priced garden view rooms to more expensive ocean view and overwater bungalows, great for a romantic island honeymoon.

The overwater bungalows have a deck, an outdoor shower, a glass bottom table and steps that lead directly into the lagoon. The hotel has two restaurants serving fresh seafood, Polynesian and European dishes. Fly to Papeete, the Tahitian capital, and catch a connecting flight to Bora Bora (a 45-minute flight). A taxi boat from the airport to the Maitai Polynesia takes approximately 30 minutes (additional fees apply). If you prefer, there is a free public boat shuttle from from the airport to Vaitape. Once you arrive in the town of Vaitape, the hotel can arrange a van transfer to the resort (+689-603-000, website).
